(1) Scope of Application
The chain‑type grate is a mechanized layer‑firing device that can be paired with boilers ranging from 1 to 25 t/h in evaporation capacity and is also suitable for various heating and drying applications. It is well suited for burning bituminous coal, lignite, and peat. With special modifications, it can also serve as a combustion system for biomass fuels such as bagasse, wood, and rice husks.
(II) Usage Requirements
The coal quality used in this grate shall meet the following requirements:
- The maximum particle size of coal lumps shall not exceed 40 mm, and it is not advisable to burn coal fines smaller than 0–5 mm.
- The moisture content of coal should be less than 20%, with an optimal range of 8–10%.
- The ash content of the coal shall not exceed 30% but should not be less than 10%, and the volatile matter content should preferably be no less than 20%.
- The ash fusion temperature of coal shall be greater than 1290°C.
- Poor coking tendency.
- The lower heating value of coal should not exceed 4,226 kcal/kg.
- If the aforementioned coal quality requirements conflict with the coal‑feeding configuration, the higher of the two shall be adopted.
The primary air temperature used in this grate shall not exceed 200°C.
