The reciprocating grate is a commonly used boiler combustion device with the following features and advantages:

Structural Features

Grate bar arrangement: A reciprocating grate consists of fixed and moving grate bars in an obvious stepped pattern with a certain inclination, usually 15°-30°, so fuel moves downward under gravity and grate motion. Ventilation gaps: There are longitudinal gaps between grate bars and transverse gaps between layers, forming good ventilation channels. The ventilation cross-section is about 7%-12%, allowing air to enter the fuel layer evenly. Drive mechanism: An electric motor drives an eccentric wheel to move push-pull rods connected to the frame, making the moving grate bars reciprocate forward and backward. The stroke is about 30-100 mm at 1-5 cycles/min, adjustable by motor speed.

Combustion Features

Strong fuel adaptability: Reciprocating grates adapt well to many fuel types and qualities, such as poor-quality coal and biomass. Fuels that are sticky, high in ash and hard to ignite also burn well, whereas chain grates struggle with such fuels. Good ignition conditions: The relative motion between grate and fuel pushes part of the new fuel onto the already ignited hot bed below, artificially improving ignition.
